Wondered why there is a "Walking Street" also in Thailand's Pattaya?

A few years after the eruption of Mount Pinatubo hastened the closure of Clark Airbase and the departure of the main customer base's airmen,  quite a few of the bars were taken over by Pattaya bar owners, and to "boost" tourism adopted that town's attraction street name for marketing purposes.

"Walking Street" is the part of Fields Avenue where the bars and restaurants are more concentrated, and in the evenings it is closed to traffic.
